That covers road traffic accidents, non-fault claims, PCO and taxi drivers, and personal injury including accidents at work. FCA-regulated, helping people across England, Scotland and Wales since 2015.
What to Do After a Non-Fault Accident
A non-fault accident is a collision that someone else caused. If the accident wasn't your fault, you're entitled to a like-for-like replacement vehicle and your repairs to be arranged at no cost to you, with the costs recovered from the at-fault driver's insurer. Here's what to do:
1
Stop & Make Safe
Stopping is a legal requirement. Switch off your engine, put hazards on, and check for injuries.
2
Exchange Details
Take the other driver's name, address, phone number, registration and insurer. Give yours if asked.
3
Gather Evidence
Photograph all vehicle damage, number plates and the scene. Save dashcam footage and witness details.
4
Call NASL
Call 0333 212 2730 or fill in our form. We arrange your replacement vehicle and repairs, and recover the cost from the at-fault driver's insurer.
For the full guide, see our non-fault car accident page. Don’t apologise or accept blame at the scene – fault is decided on the evidence.
Accident Management FAQs
What does an accident management company do?
An accident management company handles everything that follows a collision on your behalf, at one point of contact. That includes recovering your vehicle, providing a like-for-like replacement, arranging and managing the repair, and running the claim through to settlement, including any personal injury claim. Instead of dealing with insurers, garages and hire companies separately, you make one call and we coordinate the rest.
Is it worth using an accident management company?
If the accident wasn't your fault, yes. Going through your own insurer usually means paying your excess up front, risking your no-claims discount, and accepting whatever courtesy car they have available. With a non-fault claim handled for you, the costs are recovered from the at-fault driver's insurer, so there's no excess, your no-claims is protected, and you get a like-for-like replacement rather than a downgrade. If the accident was your fault, you should claim through your own insurer, and we'll tell you that honestly rather than take the case.
What does it cost me to use NASL?
Nothing. On a non-fault claim, our costs are recovered from the at-fault driver's insurer, not from you and not from your policy. There's no excess, no deposit, no hidden admin fee and no charge if we can't take your case forward. We're regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (No. 829991), which means how we handle claims and what we can charge is governed by FCA rules.
Should I use an accident management company or claim through my insurance?
It depends on fault. If you were at fault, claim through your own insurer. If you weren't, you're legally entitled to recover your costs from the at-fault driver's insurer instead, and that's where an accident management company helps. Your own insurer has an interest in settling the claim cheaply, which can mean a smaller courtesy car and your excess taken from you first. We act for you, not for an insurer, and we don't get paid unless the claim is recovered from the other side.
Am I entitled to a replacement car after a non-fault accident?
Yes. If the accident wasn't your fault, you can have a like-for-like replacement vehicle while your car is repaired, at no cost to you. The costs are recovered from the at-fault driver's insurer, not your own policy.
Do I have to pay my excess if the accident wasn't my fault?
No. If the accident wasn't your fault, there's no excess to pay, because the claim doesn't go through your own insurance policy. The costs, including your like-for-like replacement vehicle and repairs, are recovered from the at-fault driver's insurer.
Will a non-fault accident affect my insurance or no-claims bonus?
In normal cases, no. Because the costs are claimed from the at-fault driver's insurer, you avoid claiming on your own insurance for the repair and hire, which protects your no-claims discount.
How quickly can I get a replacement vehicle?
We aim to have a like-for-like replacement with you within 48 hours on non-drivable claims. If your car is still drivable, we'll arrange the replacement for when it goes in for repair.
Do you provide replacement PCO and taxi vehicles?
Yes. We have the UK's largest credit hire taxi fleet with over 700 licensed vehicles. PCO and taxi drivers get a plated, licensed replacement so they can keep working. See our PCO & taxi credit hire page.
What if the other driver disputes who was at fault?
Our in-house recovery team takes on disputed-liability claims and argues them directly with the third party's insurer. We take on complex cases that many companies won't, and we work each claim until every option has been pursued.
How long does a non-fault claim take?
Your replacement vehicle is arranged quickly - within 48 hours on non-drivable claims. The claim runs for as long as the repair and settlement reasonably take, and we keep it moving so you're not waiting longer than necessary.
