PCO and Taxi Credit Hire After a Non-Fault Accident

PCO and taxi credit hire puts a plated, fully licensed replacement vehicle in your hands after a non-fault accident, with the hire costs recovered from the at-fault driver’s insurer rather than from you. National Accident Support Line arranges plated replacements for private hire and taxi drivers across England, Scotland and Wales, with access to the UK’s largest credit hire taxi fleet of over 700 vehicles.

What is PCO credit hire?

Credit hire means you receive a replacement vehicle without paying hire charges upfront. Because your accident wasn’t your fault, the cost of the hire is claimed back from the at-fault driver’s insurance company. For PCO and taxi drivers the replacement is plated and licensed for private hire work, so you can keep accepting jobs while your own vehicle is repaired or your claim is settled.

You stay on the road. The at-fault driver’s insurer covers the bill. That is the whole idea.

Will I have to pay anything?

No excess to pay if the accident wasn’t your fault.

In almost all PCO cases the hire vehicle is insured by the hire company, not on your own policy, and no deposit is taken. The hire charges are recovered from the at-fault driver’s insurer. The only costs that could ever fall to you are ones within your control, such as fines or penalty charges picked up while driving the hire vehicle, or returning it later than agreed.

If the other side’s insurer disputes who was at fault, our in-house recovery team takes the case on and argues it. We take on complex and disputed-liability claims that many companies won’t touch, and we work each claim until every option has been pursued. If your vehicle is written off, we also pursue its pre-accident value and the other costs the accident has caused you.

Keep working while your vehicle is off the road

The replacement you receive is plated and ready for private hire work, with the plating and licensing handled for you by our hire providers. Where availability allows, vehicles are supplied like-for-like, including electric and hybrid models, and are suitable for Uber work.

If a plated vehicle isn’t ready on the day, we don’t leave you stranded. You can be placed in a standard vehicle immediately so you stay mobile while your plated replacement is being prepared, then swap into the plated vehicle the moment it’s ready to work.

Hire vehicles come with unlimited mileage and no fixed limit on hire duration, because nobody can tell you in advance exactly how long a repair or a settlement will take.

Covered across England, Scotland and Wales

We arrange plated replacements for drivers licensed in the majority of council areas across England, Scotland and Wales, not just TfL drivers in London. When your claim comes in, we confirm availability for your licensing area with our providers straight away, before anything else moves, so none of your time is wasted.

How it works

What you'll need

Having these ready when you contact us is the single best way to speed your claim up:

Who qualifies?

That’s it. We verify every claim is a genuine non-fault case before the hire begins, which protects you as much as it protects the claim, because a properly verified claim is one the at-fault insurer pays without argument.

Can I claim for lost earnings?

Yes. Time off the road is lost income, and loss of earnings can be pursued as part of the wider claim alongside your hire and repairs. Tell us about lost work when you make your enquiry and we’ll make sure it’s included from the start.

Why drivers choose National Accident Support Line

We take ownership of the claim so you can get on with your day. And if you just have questions about an accident, ask — we’ll help whether or not there’s a claim in it.

A recent example

Imran, a PCO driver in Watford, was hit when a third party failed to give way at a roundabout. The accident wasn’t his fault and his vehicle was off the road. We arranged a plated replacement within 48 hours so he could keep working while his claim was handled. (Anonymised; details changed to protect the client’s privacy.)

Being involved in an accident is always an inconvenience and often it can lead to serious financial implication especially when the vehicle is used as a mean of income. If the vehicle is not road worthy it is indispensable to have alternative arrangements to cap the financial damages an accident can ensue in. We specialize with PCO and Taxi Hire and aim to provide a hire vehicle within 24 hours in case of non-fault accident
