What is PCO credit hire?
Credit hire means you receive a replacement vehicle without paying hire charges upfront. Because your accident wasn’t your fault, the cost of the hire is claimed back from the at-fault driver’s insurance company. For PCO and taxi drivers the replacement is plated and licensed for private hire work, so you can keep accepting jobs while your own vehicle is repaired or your claim is settled.
You stay on the road. The at-fault driver’s insurer covers the bill. That is the whole idea.
Will I have to pay anything?
No excess to pay if the accident wasn’t your fault.
In almost all PCO cases the hire vehicle is insured by the hire company, not on your own policy, and no deposit is taken. The hire charges are recovered from the at-fault driver’s insurer. The only costs that could ever fall to you are ones within your control, such as fines or penalty charges picked up while driving the hire vehicle, or returning it later than agreed.
If the other side’s insurer disputes who was at fault, our in-house recovery team takes the case on and argues it. We take on complex and disputed-liability claims that many companies won’t touch, and we work each claim until every option has been pursued. If your vehicle is written off, we also pursue its pre-accident value and the other costs the accident has caused you.
